Thanks guys for helping me with questions to put here! If you have any more, feel free to send them my way!

Basic Art Questions

:bulletblue: What tablet do you use?
I use a Wacom Intuos5!

:bulletblue: How long have you been drawing?
Uh I'D SAY LIKE ALL MY LIFE LKMDGKLG. But I only got serious about trying to improve when I was around fifteen? But then I'm just like ugh draws everyone facing to the left.

:bulletblue: How do you know how to draw anatomy amazingly?
OH GOSH LKSDMGKLSDG. I REALLY DON'T ANATOMY IS SO HARD but I guess just a lot of prac...tice... yes... convulses. I've been a huge fan of stylized anatomy so sometimes my anatomy gets really... SHARP? Also I used to draw SUCH daddy long legs but I've toned it down now lksdmgl just god shoujo legs on everyone.

:bulletblue: How long does a piece take you (maybe one adoptable?)
It really varies! I'd say an estimate of four hours? That's the minimum, I'd think... Even chibis take me a long time because I find chibis SUPER DIFFICULT TO DRAW FOR SOME REASON BAHA. cries. But yes! On adoptables, depending on the complexity of the design it may take me a bit longer. I really like details but I think if I tried a simpler adopt it may take an hour out of the process or so.

:bulletblue: Have you ever considered making tutorials or live streams for people to view/learn from your work?
I've done a livestream once before (though I was super nervous and my hands were shaking like crazy), and I may do some more in the future! As for tutorials, since a lot of people have been asking I could try to make some--though usually when I do, I often zone out and forget to screencap my progress along the way aaaa.

:bulletblue: What program do you color with?
I color with Paint Tool SAI, but sometimes if I get too lazy I'll do coloring in Illuststudio too!

:bulletblue: What program do you use?
I use a few, as different programs serve my needs better. Here's a list!
Sketching/Inking: Illuststudio. It has great lines and the pen/vector/inking layers has a really natural fluid feeling as opposed to SAI's. I use the layer so I can resize/rotate/etc lines easily without losing the line quality.
Coloring: Easy Paint Tool SAI. The selection tools are really great, especially the selection pen, for filling in areas with color. Also the brushes etc feel a lot nicer to color with than Illuststudio's (plus I love the fringe setting klsdmgk).
Touch Ups: Photoshop CS5. I use it for basic edits like fixing colors, making things brighter, and to give that glow effect I like to put on like everything I do lksmg.

:bulletblue: What are your favorite tools to use on them?
Oh! For inking, I use the raster layer (rastureiya on illuststudio just lol engrish). Sometimes I'll use the line correction tools to thin out the lineart some if I feel it looks too thick. Coloring AAAA I USE THE SELECTION PEN AND MAGIC WAND TOOL TO GRAB AREAS (with all layers selected in the magic wand settings) and then everything else is pretty basic... After my flats are down, I select the entire figure and use a couple multiply layers on top of everything to shade (except for skin, I usually do that on the skin layer itself, but not always).

:bulletblue: How do you find the right colors to shade with?
For my adoptables, since I use a multiply layer to shade, I do some touch ups later to make the shading not look too flat! I tend to use a desaturated purple-grey to shade most everything. After that, I use an overlay layer and brush kind of sunset colors onto everything to get the lighting I like. I'll make a tutorial for this later since it's a bit hard for me to explain!

:bulletblue: Can you teach me how to draw/what tips would you have for me?
I'm kind of a terrible teacher, but I'm always happy to help whenever and however I can. If you ever have any questions or anything of that sort, feel free to leave me a message or note me and I'll try to help!

Adoptable Specific

:bulletblue: How long does it take you to make your adoptable?
It depends on the complexity of the design and what type I'm doing (full version or chibi), but I'd say a good estimate is about four hours minimum per adopt.

:bulletblue: Where do you find ideas/inspiration to make your adoptable | Where do you find ideas for your costumes/color palettes
UHHHH GOOD Q. I guess this is stacked over time, but I've grown to love designing certain aesthetic throughout the time I've been drawing. I obviously have a lot of asian aesthetic in my adopts just 'cause I FIND IT FUN AND PRETTY AHAH. I also really dig urban styles! But for general costume designs etc, over the years I've taken a lot of inspiration from SR, Hyung-tae Kim, Nitro+, and uuhh... LOTS OF OTHERS I'M SURE JUST NOT COMING TO ME OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD RIGHT NOW AHHA I RLY NEED TO DO AN INSPIRATION MAP ONE DAY.
For color palettes, I AM LITERALLY THE WORST. WHENEVER I CAN'T GET SMTH TO LOOK RIGHT I GO TO COLOURLOVERS AND TRY TO FIND SMTH THAT'LL WORK.

:bulletblue: Is it difficult to start designing an adopt or does it just sort of come to you?
Uhmmmm somedays it's easy, somedays it's hard. I tend to go through really long slumps where nothing comes up, but in general I've always loved designing so when it's there I really enjoy it! Sometimes I keep trying at a design that just isn't working, so I end up scrapping it.

:bulletblue: When you first started selling adoptable, how long did it take them to sell?
I had to go back in my gallery since my memory is terrible, but apparently they sold pretty fast! The first day I put them out, but I also had some great exposure from my homodachi niaro who had been in the community before me!

:bulletblue: Can we trade adopts?
Sorry, I don't do trades! While I absolutely LOVE designing adoptables and seeing people give them great homes, I don't really get adopts for myself because I wouldn't have much to do with them and would hate to see them collect dust! That's not to say that one day in the future I may not be into it, though, and if that happens I'll definitely announce it (esp since there are some adopt makers that if I did want some I would fucking HOUND DOWN JUST HUFF HUFF).

:bulletblue: Will you give me a discount or an adopt for free?
Sorry, but I don't give discounts nor free adoptables. I may sometimes give perks to frequent customers of mine, however (aka I may extend the deadline to pay since I know they're good for it, add in extras/bonuses, etc).

:bulletblue: Do you take requests?
Not really, no! But if you'd just like to see a certain type of adoptable, I'm fine with suggestions.

:bulletblue: Can you help me with pricing my adopt?
While I would love to, I'm not sure if I know the adoptable community well enough to offer valid opinions on pricing. I would say price it as you see fit! My first adoptables were in the $8-$10 range, personally. Just be sure you feel comfortable with the price.

:bulletblue: Can you help me with designing an adopt?
Aaaa I really wouldn't feel comfortable with that, but you're welcome to send me sketches or whatever and I can offer some critique? lskmg aaa i'm not really sure, maybe if I ever do collab adopts (though I doubt I will, but I've surprised myself before!).

:bulletblue: Isn't it hard to sell your adoptables? I mean they're like your babies... You created them, gave them life and such distinct features...
SOMETIMES YES. Especially since I make it a point to make designs that I really like rather than just putting out whatever, so a lot of times I have a very hard time parting with them. I've actually kept a couple of designs lksmgklsg. But I do think that people would give my designs a better home than I would as I haven't much use for them at this time (maybe if I start RPing them or something but I kind of only RP a couple things right now), and that's ultimately what I want. I also love the opportunity to supply someone with a design/character they have the potential to really enjoy, and love seeing what they do with them!

:bulletblue: Also, any encouraging words of advice for any aspiring adoptable artist?
Don't ever get discouraged! Just because one thing doesn't work out for you now doesn't mean you should get yourself down over it, just use it as an opportunity to try new things. If you put your all into something and just produce things that you love, eventually people will take notice! To be honest, when I started I really didn't think the adoptable community would like my "aesthetic," as I was more accustomed to seeing uhh very frilly/cute/girly/youthful/chibi designs? But I was pleasantly surprised and flattered that people liked mine as well! I still get a bit nervous to post more "mature" looking designs, but I've recently been feeling more and more comfortable with it!
Also, this is a HUGE one for me, but please never say "I don't like this" or "ugh so ugly" or something in your artist comment when you're selling an adoptable (or posting a commission, or anything of that sort). I personally think if it's not good enough for you, it shouldn't be good enough for  other people.

OHOHOHHHHH OMG THANK GOODNESS I SAW THIS. I've been meaning to design adopts so this is helpful! Yes! But aaaaaa parting with one's babies is the worst oAo But then you kinda neglect them and forget them ono

Thanks for posting this! ^^
